Biography

Making and judging are never separate.

Aidin Ardjomandi is an Iranian multidisciplinary designer, author, researcher, lecturer and design critic whose work moves between the studio, the jury room, the classroom and the page.

His designed objects include a new musical instrument that combines the conceptual territories of the cello and didgeridoo. Across the practice, the object is never treated as a neutral solution. It is a carrier of memory, persuasion, cultural reference and emotion.

That conviction also shapes his writing. As Editorial Manager of Designooor, Ardjomandi writes about lighting, visual culture, architecture, film, games and the politics of attention. His criticism asks what images frame, what publications legitimise and how design narratives can conceal as much as they reveal.

International jury work is a defining part of his practice. Serving across leading global award programs has given him a close view of how expertise, presentation, reputation and group dynamics enter evaluation. His book Judgement, Bias, Design turns that experience into a wider inquiry: not how to eliminate subjectivity, but how to examine it responsibly.

His second book, The Narrative Furniture Design, explores furniture as a platform for storytelling and emotional durability. Together with his academic research, teaching at Pars University and public interviews, the books position design as a form of critical inquiry rather than a race toward novelty.
